Summary Justice SA - Rewritten and Updated
Summary Justice is now up to date and has been rewritten by two experienced practitioners. It offers the only commentary that is specific to the challenges faced by practitioners in summary jurisdiction (including at committal). The rewriting addresses all the recent changes to the Sentencing Act.
Summary Justice’s organisation is unique. It is structured as criminal proceedings unfold from charge to possible appeal so answers can be intuitively and easily identified. Its text is organised around propositions - easily understood by practitioners - and offers examples from cases to allow practitioners to apply those key ideas to their cases. It has an expanding number of flow charts to explain key ideas simply and easily.
The work has been expanded to encompass aspects of the investigatory process and now incorporates chapters devoted to costs and interventions orders.
