Legal update, Commonwealth government steams ahead with regulatory reforms to enhance security of Australia’s critical infrastructure, provides a brief overview of the Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Act 2021 (Cth) which received Royal Assent on 2 December 2021 and the Security of Critical Infrastructure (Definitions) Rules (LIN 21/039) 2021 (Cth) which was registered on 13 December 2021. In addition, the update provides details of three simultaneous consultations currently being conducted by the Department of Home Affairs in relation to the:
- Exposure draft of the Security Legislation Amendment (Critical Infrastructure Protection) Bill 2022 (Cth).
- Exposure draft of the Transport Security Amendment (Critical Infrastructure) Bill 2022 (Cth).
- Exposure draft of the Security of Critical Infrastructure (Application) Rules 2021 (Cth).
